About the regatta
The Nova Scotia Invitational Beach Sprints Regatta brings together athletes, coaches, and officials to compete in a high-energy coastal sprint format. The event supports operational readiness for future championship-level events in Nova Scotia and will be delivered in alignment with World Rowing Coastal Beach Sprint Rules of Racing.
Eligibility
Participation is open to athletes entered by their respective rowing federations or clubs. Final eligibility and administrative requirements will be confirmed in Bulletin #2.
Team size
There is no formal team size cap for this invitational event. Entry limits may apply based on equipment availability and scheduling.

Equipment
Boats: OC boats supplied by Row Nova Scotia in partnership with Lite Boat.
Oars: Athletes must bring their own oars.
Boat allocation, rotation procedures, and any equipment briefings will be issued in Bulletin #2.
Venue
Rissers Beach Provincial Park on Nova Scotia’s South Shore offers a wide sandy beach and authentic Atlantic conditions — ideal for coastal sprint racing and operational testing.
Typical late‑August conditions
- Water: cool-to-mild Atlantic water (often in the high teens °C)
- Air: warm summer days with coastal variability
- Wind & waves: variable; teams should plan for changing conditions

Safety
On-site coverage
- Lifeguards will be on site for the duration of competition.
- Safety boats will be deployed in accordance with the Rules of Racing.
What to bring
- Weather-ready layers (wind happens).
- Hydration + sun protection.
- Warm change of clothes for after racing.
Final safety plan details (zones, procedures, and communications) will be distributed closer to the event and/or in Bulletin #2.
Accommodation
For planning purposes, accommodations between Lunenburg and LaHave are generally within ~30 minutes of Rissers Beach. Bridgewater offers the highest concentration of services and hotel capacity. Vacation rentals (including Airbnb) are available throughout the corridor.
